Understanding the Verse
In this verse, Sanjay describes the overwhelming impact of the Pandava army’s conch shells. The terrific sound of their conch shells created a tremendous uproar that reverberated across both the sky and the earth. This sound was so powerful that it shattered the hearts of the Kaurava army, the sons of Dhritarashtra, who were filled with fear and dread. The Pandavas, in contrast, felt empowered and confident as they had Lord Krishna on their side. Sanjay does not mention any such fearful reaction from the Pandavas when the Kauravas made their loud noises earlier. The difference in their mental states is a reflection of the contrasting moral positions of both armies: while the Pandavas were aligned with Dharma (righteousness), the Kauravas were plagued by guilt and the weight of their wrongful actions.
